On
November 10, 2009, a haiku lesson for children aged
11 and 12 years old was held at College G. de Nerval,
a public middle high school in Crepy en Valois,
France.
The speaker at the lesson was Ms. Isabelle Asunsolo,
a member of Association for the Haiku Promotion
in France(*1).
Ms. Asunsolo is currently working in the editing
and publishing field and is accomplished in the
art of haiku.
In the presence of their teacher Ms. Brigitte, the
children of College G. de Nerval enthusiastically
listened and concentrated on Ms. Asunsolo’s given
lecture.

During
the lesson, Ms. Asunsolo distributed to the children
French translated copies of famous haiku from Japan
and haiku from haiku poets from the countries of
France, Spain and Mexico. Afterwards, the children
were asked about their impression and the feelings
they gained from reading those haiku. They also
received a lecture on how humans perceive feelings
through their five senses and how these momentary
feelings are captured within the short poem called
haiku. |

| The
lecture on haiku was held from 14.00 to 16.30, with
only a short 15 minutes break in between. However,
through Ms. Asunsolo’s expert guidance, the children
were able to deepen their interest of a foreign
culture and also created haiku with enthusiasm.
With this, the haiku lesson was brought to a successful
close. |

| From
2009 until 2010, JAL Foundation is sponsoring the 11th
World Children’s Haiku Contest. It would be a pleasure
to receive wonderful haiku and artwork from the children
who participated in the haiku lesson and to see the children
utilise what they had learned. |

La
fondation JAL et JAPAN AIRLINES France ont organisé
conjointement au Collège Gérard de Nerval à Crépy
en Valois un cours d’initiation aux fameux poèmes
japonais appelés ≪ Haikus ≫ pour des enfants âgés
de 11 à 12 ans le 10 novembre 2009.
Ce cours fut dispensé par Madame Isabel Asunsolo,
intervenant en tant que membre de l’Association
pour la Promotion du ≪ Haiku ≫ en France(*1)
; Monsieur Dominique CHIPOT, Président-fondateur
de l'Association pour la promotion du Haïku, et
sous la responsabilité de Madame Brigitte Bourderlique
professeur principal des élèves. Ces derniers montrèrent
un réel intérêt et une curiosité assidue. |

Pour
leurs expliquer les principes fondamentaux des ≪
haikus ≫, Madame Asunsolo choisit dans un premier
temps, de leurs faire découvrir des ≪ haikus ≫ traduits
en français provenant bien sûr du Japon, mais aussi
de France, d’Espagne ou encore du Mexique, puis
demanda aux enfants de les commenter. Madame Asunsolo
expliqua en détails les rythmes de composition des
≪ haikus ≫ faisant appels à nos cinq sens, et à
nos émotions. |

| Ce
cours d’une durée de deux heures trente a enthousiasmé
les élèves. Il a permis aux enfants d’aborder une
culture différente de la leur, et d’appréhender
l’art de la création avec un autre regard. |

Nous
souhaitons que les élèves ayant participé à ce cours prennent
goût à la rédaction de poèmes 《Haikus》et qu'ils participent
au 11ème concours mondial de 《Haikus》 2009-2010 ayant
pour thème l'école sous l'égide de la fondation JAL.
