2003 @Sep. New atmospheric observation project kicked off
With the financial support from the Ministry of education, culture, sports, science and technology(MEXT), JAL foundation as a core corporation started development in cooperation with Tohoku University, NIES, JAXA, MRI, JAL and JAMCO. Developing the prototype equipment and defining the location and installation of the equipment began.
@@@@Nov. 4 The 1st committee named "Committee on promoting the observation to investigate atmosphere composition by regular airline flight" was held.
2004 @Feb. Completed design of prototype ASE and CME.
An article featuring the new observation program appeared in the Mainichi newspaper.
@@@@May 13 The second committee was held.
@ @ Mar.-Aug. Functional confirmation. Design and development of test equipment.
Pretest for environmental testing.
The new observation program was presented on Fuji TV's Super News and Internet TV channel J. It appeared in an article in the Sankei newspaper.

2005 @Jan. An article for the new observation program provided by Kyodo news appeared in several newspapers.
@@@@Feb. 21 Certification for the aircraft modification of JAXA beechcraft65 to install the CME was obtained.
@@@ Feb.-Mar. Environmental testing was conducted and passed with FAA DER witness.

@@@@Oct. The 1st 747-400 airplane was modified (JA8917)

@@@@Nov. The new observation program was presented on NHK TV. It also appeared in an article of the Nikkan kogyo and the Yomiuri Newspapers as well as the Nature Japan.
@@@@Nov. 30 Press release from NIES regarding the success of the CO2 observation using commercial aircraft reference to data obtained from the 1st flight.
Articles appeared in the Nihon Keizai, the Yomiuri, the Nikkan Kogyou and the Mainichi newspapers.

@ @@Oct.-Nov. The 2nd(JA703J) and 3rd 777-200ER(JA707J) were modified.
@@@@Nov. 7 The new observation program was presented on NHK "Good morning Japan"
Dr. Machida of NIES appeared. Cargo compartment of JAL 777 was televised.
2007 @Feb. 16 New subcommittee "Subcommittee of data application for atmospheric observation by airliner" was held.
@@@@ Mar. 6 New committee "Committee on promoting earth environmental observation by regular airline flight" was held to discuss effective use of the data obtained, maintaining ,managing and enhancing the new aircraft platform.
