1. Sakura Miller

"Survival": This haiku suggests the strong determination of children surviving through whatever difficulties ahead of them in the future. The imagery of the tree growing despite the harshness of the seasons is very appropriate and strong.

「生き抜く」
この俳句には、未来にたとえどんな困難があってもそれを生き抜いてゆこうという子どもたちの強い決意が表されています。厳しい季節の移り変わりにもかかわらず伸びてゆく木のイメージはとても適切で力強いものです。

2. Christopher I Kashimoto

"Puzzle": This haiku is very philosophical. The idea that whatever happens is all in heaven's grand plan is quite similar to that of many religions and philosophies such as Taoism, Buddhism, and Christianity. The artwork that accompanies this haiku is artistic and imaginative and perfectly matches the haiku.

「パズル」
この句はとても哲学的な内容を持っています。世の中で起こるどんなことも、みな天上の大いなる計画の中にあるという考えは、道教、仏教、そしてキリスト教などの多くの宗教や哲学においてよく見られます。この作品につけられた絵は芸術性や創造力に富み、俳句とうまくとけあっています。

3. Duke M Mijo

"Life": This haiku is very fitting for this period in history where we are in constant fear of what may happen tomorrow due to the possibilities of nuclear attack by errant countries and news of attacks by terrorists on an almost daily basis. This haiku provides a positive mindset that no matter what may happen, life will continue to learn and evolve.

「人生」
この俳句は歴史の中での今の時代をよく表しています。現代は道を誤った国による核攻撃の可能性やテロリストによる襲撃というニュースにあふれ、われわれは明日何が起こるか分からないような日常化した恐怖の中にいます。この作品は何が起ころうとも人生において学びそして進歩してゆこうという肯定的な態度を示しています。

4. Alyssa Kimura　

"Life on Earth": This haiku reinforces the fact that every living creature on Earth has life residing in it, and we humans must try our utmost to preserve their lives and their environment. The illustration that accompanies this haiku is very cute and aptly depicts life of the land, sea, and sky.

「地球の生き物」 この俳句は、地球上のあらゆる生き物が共存し、われわれ人類はその生命や環境を保つために最大限努力しなければならないという事実を確認しています。作品につけられた絵には大地、海、空の生き物がかわいらしくうまく描かれています。
