The 15th World Children's Haiku Contest 'Living Things' (in Poland) Comments
第15回 世界こどもハイクコンテスト「いきもの」 ポーランド大会 講評

As it is the first time of Children Haiku Contest in Poland we are extremely happy that there were 87 entries. Most of the participants were 10-11 years old. There were more female participants than male. Many haiku poems were set in winter, since the weather in Poland was cold at that time. As for illustrations, various art　techniques were used by participants; crayon drawings, watercolor paintings, charcoal sketches, mixed techniques etc. There were many poems about favorite animals and pets. In some poems atmospheric phenomena were described as living things with feelings: " rainbow is laughing", "puddle is laughing". "icicle is crying". We hope that from now on the contest becomes more and more popular in Poland too.

ポーランドにおける最初の子どもハイクコンテストでしたので、87作品もの応募があったことを大変うれしく思います。応募者の大半は10歳から11歳で、男子よりも女子が多かったです。冬を詠んだ句が多かったのは、コンテストがポーランドの寒い時期と重なっていたからでした。絵に関しては様々な手法が用いられています。クレヨンで描かれた作品、水彩画、木炭によるスケッチ、或いはそれらを併用したもの等。大好きな動物やペットを詠んだ俳句が沢山ありました。いくつかの俳句では情緒的な現象が感情を持った生きものとして扱われています。「虹が笑っている」、「水たまりが笑っている」、「つららが泣いている」というように。今後、ポーランドでもこのコンテストがますます盛んになることを望みます。
