The 15th World Children's Haiku Contest 'Living Things' (in China/Tianjin) Comments
第15回 世界こどもハイクコンテスト「いきもの」 中国/天津大会 講評

It was the first time in Tianjin district to hold this contest. It was hard to select from a large number of entries. There were typical Chinese expressions found among the entries, which pleased the eyes of the judges. We were impressed by the sensitivity of children in both China and Japan. The children’s sensitivity determines their drawings. The excellent works selected for this time are all reflecting children’s ages and the development in their minds and bodies. The children in the lower classes tend to be simple and innocent, while children in the higher classes are rich and original in expressing their ways of thinking. From the theme of “Living Things”, children have chosen one from their daily observations and put their ideas freely into their works. As for the art work, paintings, paper cuttings, block printings and many other ways of expressions are used. The voices from children’s heart and their aesthetic appreciation are presented well.

天津地区での初開催となりましたが、多くの応募作品からの選定は難しいものがありました。中国ならではの描写も多く、審査員の目を楽しませてくれました。日本中国問わず、子供たちの感性には改めて感心させられました。
子供の感性は児童画の最も貴重な特質です。今回選出された優秀な作品は全て幼児の年齢、生理心理発展の特徴にふさわしいものです。低学年の作品は天真爛漫、高学年は豊かかつ独特の発想を表しています。 内容の選択から見れば、「生き物」というテーマに、子どもたちの日常観察、自由な発想を作品に溶け込んでいます。技法の運用から見れば、絵画、切り紙、版画などさまざまな表現方法を使いました。子供たちの心の声と審美が現されました。
