Overview
Japan Airlines established the JAL Scholarship Program in 1975 under the theme of “friendship between Japan and
Asia”.
It invites university students from Asia and Oceania to visit Japan each summer.The purpose of the program
is to foster
a better understanding of Japan via education and cultural exchanges. It additionally aims to develop
mutual
understanding across country borders, and raise the young people who will shoulder the future of Asia and
Oceania.
The JAL Foundation was entrusted with the management of the JAL Scholarship Program upon its inauguration in
1990. It has continued to expand and adapt the content of the program to meet the needs of the present day. The
program currently operates as part of the JAL Group’s corporate social responsibility contributions.
Up until now, a total of 1,369 students participated
in the program and many of the graduate are now playing active
roles in diverse fields around the world.
