ご受賞された皆さん、おめでとうございます。世界中から届けられたたくさんの「音」に耳を澄ませながら、素敵な作品を選ぶことができ、とてもうれしく思っています。静けさのなかで小さな音を感じ取ったり、いろいろな音の重なりをハーモニーと捉えたり、「音」をさまざまに描写した作品には、作者ひとり一人の感性がありました。

俳句と絵の創作に向き合われた作者の皆さんは、すばらしい時間を過ごし、確かな表現方法を手に入れたのではないでしょうか。
内と外に広がる世界を観察し、どんな言葉なら他者へ届くのだろうと思案するーーー忙しい生活のなかで、すこしだけ立ち止まるーーーそんな時間を過ごせたのではないかと思います。
受賞の有無に関わらず、その時間にこそ、大きな意味があるのです。

Congratulations to all the prize winners. I am delighted to have been able to select such wonderful entries whilst listening intently to the multitude of ‘sounds’ sent in from all over the world. Whether it was perceiving the faintest sounds amidst the silence or interpreting the interplay of various sounds as harmony, each entry—which depicted ‘sound’ in diverse ways—reflected the unique sensibilities of its individual creators.

I believe that all the creators who engaged with the creation of haiku and art must have had a wonderful time and acquired a solid means of expression.
Observing the world that extends both within and without, pondering what words might truly reach others—pausing just a little amidst the hustle and bustle of daily life—I believe you were able to spend time in this way.
Whether or not they won a prize, it is that time itself that holds great significance.
