Everything in the drawing of Denislav Savilnov is presented convincingly, with rich imagination and vibrant colors. The overall effect is immediate and captivating with its playfulness. The details of each insect are precise. They are beautifully arranged, each of them on a leaf or stem and interact in a delightful rhythm. The ladybug is soft, colorful, almost fairytale-like. The stag beetle is heavy, dark, archaic. Haiku captures a fleeting moment that hasn’t been sought – a meeting of inhabitants of the same space yet belonging to different worlds. Their ‘buzzing’ unites them into a single shared sound. It is at once communication and mystery, or perhaps they simply exist side by side without disturbing each other. ‘A dispute intangible to me’ is a quiet acknowledgment of the young author’s humility, as well as of the limits of his understanding.
