テーマ 「おと」 Theme "Sound" 入賞作品 JAL Prize winner

In the refined black and white drawing of Nia Meradzhieva three beautiful female musicians are depicted. A singer with a microphone is in the centre and guitarists are on her both sides. They bring the magical world music inside themselves, and they realize their important role: to turn the music into a real experience by their creative energy and talent, transcending the hearing, overcoming the space. Their presence is compelling – once offered, a melody cuts the silence, it comes to life and fills with layers of meaning. Haiku in the work is emotional and metaphorical. It leads us from the monochrome world (black and white) to its total opposite – colour. It is visually designed, short and assertive. Its physical action – “cutting” – is firm and sharp. The sound, that is invisible by nature, turns into “colour” that can be both seen and felt at the same time. It does not explain but asserts and that’s why it resonates.
